Nokia stated that they are far ahead of Google in terms of cellphone technology
Nokia has come out and stated that they are far ahead of Google in terms of cellphone technology, and their Android platform.
Google announced their plans for cellphones back in October with the announcement of the Android platform.
Nokia’s chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo stated that “We’ve seen an announcement. Conceptually, we could have made that announcement a long time ago.”
Nokia’s chief stated that Apple should be given credit for what they have accomplished. They are the first new entrant to make an impact in the industry in a long time. He stated that “It’s very clear that Apple, Google, and other players are bringing a lot of new directions. Convergence is a nice, dandy word, but it means industries colliding.”
Google did not give an invite to Nokia to join the Open Handset Alliance which has many phone makers in it. Nokia has 39% of the global cellular market.
Nokia went one step further on Tuesday announcing a deal with Universal Music Group to offer free unlimited music downloads for an entire year. The songs can be played on a PC and phone and will be available for free beyond the year.
